Kolhapur has its own Professional Football Club 'Jamadar Football Club' which was established quite before first football world cup Played in Uruguay in 1930. Jamdar club is second oldest football clubs in India. The royal family of Kolhapur supported and promoted sports and especially football in his dynasty. Contribution to national sports Kolhapur won a medal for India in Helsinki Olympic 1952 in wrestling by Khashaba Jadhav. But football emerged in Kolhapur decades before that. Along with wrestling, football, hockey, swimming, shooting, and cricket are popular in the city. The spirit of sports keeps Kolhapur on top of contributing to national sports achievement.
